Job Description Victory Autism Academy is hiring Special
Education Teachers for the 22/23 School Year. This posting starts
at $55,000 depending on experience and includes a $2,500 signing
bonus, that will be paid out in two installments. Victory Autism
Academy- Special Education Teacher Position Title: Certified
Teacher, Special Education Supervisor: Principal Term of
Employment: 9 months Salary Classification: Teacher Salary Schedule
Job Summary: This person in this role will create a classroom
environment that meets the individual needs, interests, and
abilities of Special Education Students - socially, emotionally,
physically, and cognitively. Teachers will help students learn
subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development
as mature, able, and responsible men and women. Essential
Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with
Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to, the
following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other
characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a
comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by the
teacher. Essential Duties and Responsibilities generally include
the following. Other duties may be assigned: Provides case
management services for students with a disability including all
requirements related to IEP development, provision, and compliance
to state and federal regulations. Provides direct services to
students with a disability per agreement on the IEP. Maintains all
aspects and provisions of confidentiality to (Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act) FERPA. Meets and instructs assigned classes
per the schedule. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive
to learning appropriate to the maturity and skill level of the
students. Plans and prepares lessons to provide the students with
the opportunity to meet and/or exceed standards as outlined by
state standards. Sets and maintains standards of classroom
behavior. Employs a variety of instructional techniques consistent
with the needs and capabilities of the students. Guides the
learning process, through the use of clearly established goals and
objectives to meet the student and VAA goals and objectives.
Maintains accurate and complete records that meet the required
federal, state, and VAA regulations/requirements. Assesses the
accomplishments of students as required by policy and regulation
and assist student growth through meaningful feedback. Attends
staff meetings as required. Plan and supervise support staff. Takes
all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials, and facilities. Performs other duties as assigned or
required. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of applicable VAA
policies and procedures. Knowledge of variety teaching methods and
techniques to promote student growth. Facilitation of successful
meetings to accomplish all IEP responsibilities. A working
knowledge of accommodations and modifications to appropriately meet
students--- needs. Knowledge of principles of record, file, and
database management. Knowledge of principles of basic non-typical
child development stages, and non-typical developmental delays.
Demonstrates flexibility, common sense, and good judgment. Skill in
following oral and written directions. Skill in identifying,
preventing, and de-escalating negative behaviors. Skill in
instructing and assisting students in self-help living skills.
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations
with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public,
and others having business with VAA. Skill in operating a personal
computer utilizing a variety of software applications. Minimum
Qualifications: A current special education teaching certificate
with appropriate endorsement(s) at the Arizona Department of
Education. Other Requirements: Must be Highly Qualified according
to state and federal standards to fill the position. Must be able
to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check. Must be able
to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver---s license. May be
required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials
weighing up to 20 pounds. May be required to lift students weighing
up to 60 pounds. Must be able to complete training in CPR, First
Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), and specialized training
for students with disabilities. Must be able to physically restrain
a student utilizing the CPI holds; must be able to run after
students who are at risk of fleeing from a safe location. May be
required to work outside normal working hours. May be required to
travel to perform work functions. Company Description Victory
Autism Academy specializes in providing education to students with
autism, Kindergarten to 12th Grade. We have a low classroom, staff
to student ratios which are maintained to maximize individual
instruction and address the needs of each student. Each classroom
has 12-15 students where students are grouped based on ability and
needs. At any one time, you will see 3-6 staff in a classroom. The
overall staff to student ratio is 3 to 1. Our program offers a
multi-sensory, hands-on approach to learning with real world
experiences. We look at what motivates our students and use those
things to teach new skills and improve academic and behavioral
success. The ultimate goal is to foster the skills needed to live a
full, happy, productive life and prepare them for future success.
