Job Description Summary

Help us serve the youth and make a difference in your community! Volunteers are an essential part of youth sports and we need you to help make our programs a success. Whether you have a child on the team or not, you are welcome to apply to become a volunteer in our youth sports programs.

The season begins the week of June 5 and runs for 7 weeks. Practices are held on Monday or Tuesday and games are Wednesday or Thursday. All games and practices are held after 5:00pm. This is a recreational program with equal playing time for all participants with an emphasis placed on having fun in a healthy and safe environment.

The benefits to becoming a volunteer coach are:

* A credit applied to your account after completion of season (resident rate of $70).

Essential Functions

* Develop and implement meaningful and instructive practice plans.
* Teach participants the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork.
* Teach participants the rules and regulations of the sport and program.
* Communicate with all stakeholders in the program including parents, players, recreation staff, and officials.

Requirements

* Coaches are expected to attend an in-person coaches meeting and are responsible for contacting their teams after the meeting and being in communication with parents throughout the season (via email, phone, text, etc.)
* Basic knowledge of the game, rules and the ability to demonstrate and communicate proper skills and drills.
* Ability to deal professionally and tactfully with players, their parents, other coaches, officials, spectators, and recreation staff.

In order to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteer coaching requirement include:

* Applicant must be 18 years of age
* Submission of Volunteer Application and background check
* Abide by Code of Conduct

League Info:

Coaches Meeting is Tuesday, May 23, at 6:00 PM at the Goodyear Recreation Center.

Practices are Mondays or Tuesdays beginning June 5. Games are Wednesdays or Thursdays beginning June 14. All practices and games are held after 5:00pm at a school gym in Goodyear.
