Job Description:
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State
University (ASU) and the School for Engineering of Matter,
Transport and Energy ( SEMTE ) seek applicants for positions of
Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor in the area
of microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, microfabication, electrokinetics
and heat and thermal management. We seek applicants who enhance our
abilities in these areas to solve grand challenges as part of a
community of experts and who can interface with ASU’s new School of
Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering . The successful
candidate appointment will be at the rank commensurate with the
candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2026.
We search for applicants who will contribute to our academic
programs, promote transdisciplinary teaching and research, and help
the university to achieve its aspirations, including enabling
student success, transforming society, valuing entrepreneurship,
and conducting use-inspired research. Faculty members in the Fulton
Schools are expected to develop an internationally recognized and
externally funded research program, adopt effective pedagogical
practices in the development and delivery of graduate and
undergraduate courses, advise both undergraduate and graduate
student research and projects, and undertake service activities. T
he School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy houses
undergraduate and/or graduate programs in Aerospace, Biological
Design, Chemical, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering. SEMTE is
one of the eight schools within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of
Engineering, the largest and one of the most innovative research
engineering colleges in the nation. The college, which serves a
large and inclusive student body, is a recognized leader in
engineering education and is committed to teaching excellence.
Essential Functions Deliver in-class and online instruction at the
undergraduate and graduate level Develop in-person and online
courses relevant to the ME and AE curriculum Mentor undergraduate
and graduate students, including supervision of graduate and
undergraduate research Develop an extramurally funded research
program Publish research in peer-reviewed journals Participate in
university and professional service activities Promote inclusive
excellence that aligns with the ASU Charter Required qualifications
Earned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
or a related discipline by the time of appointment Evidence of
excellence in research, commensurate with the candidate’s rank
Evidence of excellence in teaching, commensurate with the
candidate’s rank Desired qualifications Demonstrated commitment to
a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research in
microfluidics, heat and thermal management with application to
medical engineering Commitment to inclusive research and teaching
practices
