Job Description:
Job Description This position starts at $75,000 depending on
experience. This position comes with a $2,500 signing bonus that is
paid out in two installments. Victory Autism Academy- Speech
Pathologist Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist Supervisor:
Principal or Designee Term of Employment: 9 months Job Summary: The
person in this role will reduce or eliminate speech and hearing
impairments that interfere with a student---s ability to derive
full benefit from Victory Autism Academy---s educational program.
Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the
Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited
to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other
characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a
comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by the
Speech Language Pathologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Speech-Language Pathologist will work with Kindergarten-12th grade
students. Supervise all SLPA(s). SLP will join a team where the
vision is to push into the classroom and community while delivering
services in their natural environment when appropriate.
Collaborates with classroom teachers to schedule interventions
using a variety of service delivery models such as classroom
intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out as
appropriate to meet student---s needs in the least restrictive
environment. Provides activities commensurate with students---
interests and aptitudes. Uses a variety of equipment, materials,
devices, and aids. Uses systematic and evidence based intervention
strategies to foster communication competence. Implements the
service of delivery model most appropriate to the students---
degree of severity. Provides feedback and reinforcement to
students. Uses language appropriate to the listener. Skill and
experience working with students who use augmentative and adaptive
communication strategies and devices. Writing Individual Education
Plans (IEP), including working knowledge of social and behavioral
language goals, specific task analysis skills, and ability to write
measurable annual goals and objectives. Ability to participate as
an effective member of the IEP team. Conduct meetings, such as SLP
team meetings, faculty meetings, special education meetings, and
parent teacher conferences. Maintain records of speech-language
programs and prepare periodic reports as required. Keeps updated
data for program planning and decision making for students. Submit
timely reports. Presents information to school personnel about
language disorders as they relate to literacy and interactive
communication skills. Provides information to parents and teachers
about speech and language development. Keeps updated therapy data
and lists dates and times the students received therapy. Applies
knowledge gained from continuing education activities. Explores and
disseminates information about new and/or improved methods for
serving students. Gives written information to teachers, parents,
and others on ways to foster speech-language growth. Coach
classroom staff on implementation of speech/language therapy goals.
Talks with teachers formally and informally about individual
student---s needs and progress. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of
applicable Victory Autism Academy policies and procedures. College
training and clinical experience in the area of speech and hearing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations
with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and
others having business with Victory Autism Academy Skill in
operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software
applications. Minimum Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Communication
Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology AZ Department of Education
Teaching Certificate- Speech Language Pathologist (Pre K-12) Other
Requirements: Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background
clearance check. Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona
driver---s license. May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky
supplies and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to
work outside normal working hours. May be required to travel to
perform work functions. Company Description Victory Autism Academy
specializes in providing education to students with autism,
Kindergarten to 12th Grade. We have a low classroom, staff to
student ratios which are maintained to maximize individual
instruction and address the needs of each student. Each classroom
has 12-15 students where students are grouped based on ability and
needs. At any one time, you will see 3-6 staff in a classroom. The
overall staff to student ratio is 3 to 1. Our program offers a
multi-sensory, hands-on approach to learning with real world
experiences. We look at what motivates our students and use those
things to teach new skills and improve academic and behavioral
success. The ultimate goal is to foster the skills needed to live a
full, happy, productive life and prepare them for future success.
