Medical Director Phoenix, AZ Full Time Salary : 269K Relocation
Package available. Summary This position is responsible for
monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of medical services
provided to incarcerated individuals at the client's institutions.
As the subject matter expert oversees and provides guidance
regarding clinical treatment/protocol to Contract Monitors and
other internal and external entities. Responsibilities: Works
collaboratively with the client Mental Health Director and
subordinate staff to give guidance, assess policies and practices,
and identify and resolve inmate related health care concerns that
may impact. ?This position is required to drive on State business
and perform other duties appropriate to the assignment. This
position contributes to the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Functions Reviews and analyzes medical treatment services provided
by the Contracted Healthcare Provider (CHP). Works collaboratively
with a team to ensure the CHP provides timely, professional, and
clinically appropriate health care to incarcerated individuals in
accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and
procedures. Review individual inmate medical cases and charts as
needed. Monitors and reviews medical services for unusual patterns
of utilization or denial. In conjunction with the Pharmacy Services
Monitor, conducts reviews of the formularies used by the CHP.
Develops utilization review process and assessment tools; assists
in the development and implementation of monitoring programs,
compliance reviews, action plans, and policy revisions; tours
facilities and conducts scheduled and unscheduled visits, as
needed. Prepares required reports and recommendations, including
mortality reviews of deceased inmates, finalizes and submits
clemency applications, participates in monthly audits, and serves
on a number of committees, such as the hepatitis-c committee and
transgender committee. Researches and responds to inquiries from
internal and external sources; provide guidance regarding clinical
treatment/protocol to the HSD, Contract Monitors, and other
internal and external entities; completes special projects and
assignments within given time frames; attends meetings as
warranted. Acts as the Occupational Health Medical Consultant.
Pre-Employment Requirements: Must possess a valid, unrestricted
Arizona Medical license Employment is contingent on the selected
applicant passing a background investigation. If this position
requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function
of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee
operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain
a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all
required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s
license record checks. ?The license must be current, unexpired, and
neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state
business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must
maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required
driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned
vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required
liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.)
R2-10-207.11). In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all
employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during
their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
