Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must not
live within a 50-mile radius of the facility. Candidates must have
critical thinking skills. Candidates are required to pass a
dysrhythmia exam through UNA within 24-48 hours of receiving an
offer. Candidates must complete a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1
of orientation. Description: The unit has 16 beds and serves as an
extension of the emergency room. It cares for patients with common
diagnoses such as chest pain ruled out for myocardial infarction,
post heart catheterization (no sheaths), stable pre-CABG patients,
and those post-interventional radiology and endoscopic procedures.
Medication administration includes non-titration Amiodarone,
Cardizem, and Labetalol. There are no vents, BiPAP, or CPAP
machines in use. Hospitalist services are available for patient
coverage. The team includes registered nurses and patient care
technicians as per census for primary care. Nurses must be prepared
to float to any telemetry or medical-surgical floor as needed.
Weekends will be scheduled every third weekend, and holiday
rotations are required. The nursing department follows standard
scrub color of navy blue. There is no involvement in alcohol
withdrawal management unless the patient has been sober for three
days prior. The facility has a cancellation policy that allows for
the cancellation of up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
The charting system in use is Cerner. The care setting is acute.
The facility maintains a trauma level 1 status. Requirements
