Job Description Job Description Job Title: Microbiology Lab Technician Job Description Perform microbiological testing on cosmetic products in accordance with USP , USP , USP Suitability, and USP standards. Conduct method suitability testing to validate sterility procedures and eliminate antimicrobial interference. Prepare and analyze samples for microbial enumeration and identification of objectionable organisms. Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment to ensure sterility and accuracy. Document all procedures, results, and deviations in compliance with ISO standards. Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiological testing workflows. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices. Communicate findings and updates to the Lab Manager and relevant stakeholders. Responsibilities Perform microbiological testing on cosmetic products in accordance with regulatory standards. Conduct method suitability testing to validate sterility procedures. Prepare and analyze samples for microbial enumeration and identification. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Document procedures, results, and deviations in compliance with ISO standards. Develop and revise SOPs for testing workflows. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices. Communicate findings and updates to relevant stakeholders. Essential Skills Proficiency in microbiological techniques and regulatory protocols. Experience in quality control and microbiological testing. Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in a microbiology lab, preferably in cosmetics or pharmaceutical testing. Knowledge of GMP/GLP/GCP standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Hands-on experience with USP , , Suitability, and testing protocols. Familiarity with ISO quality management systems. Ability to create and maintain SOPs. Experience with Preservative Efficacy Testing is preferred. Work Environment Work in a small bench lab environment dedicated to third-party cosmetics testing. You will be one of two lab technicians reporting to the laboratory manager. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
